So, nobody showed up to your vegan sushi-making party and now you're wondering what to do with all that rice?
Why not make some RICE MILK?
Why, it's so easy, even a baby could do it!
1. Take your cooked rice (short grain), re-cook 2 cups of it with another 2 cups water until the rice is very soft.
2. Blend the rice and the water together with 2 tsp. vanilla extract and some cinnamon (sweetener is optional, but if you want it, now is the time to put it in.)
3. Add six more cups HOT water and blend thoroughly.
4. Let it sit for half an hour or so, then drain off the rice milk into another container, leaving the sediment in the original container. If it seems too watery, put the sediment back in and let it sit in the fridge overnight.
Now you have DELICIOUS homemade rice milk for your enjoyment!
PS--We used a glass suntea container and an immersion blender for this.

Jam
Hello all!
Today I went to Super A Foods in Eagle Rock and got 6 pounds of white peaches for $2.83, 12 pint-sized Mason jars, some Zulka cane sugar and 2 boxes of pectin. Tomorrow, September 1st, Labor Day, I'll be making as many jars as possible. So come one, come all, and help make it. Or you can stop by later and pick up a jar, perhaps in exchange for something else you do well. I'm not quite sure exactly how this is going to work out, so...any ideas welcome. Or come tomorrow with fruit of your own/ideas & ingredients and we'll make all kinds of cool combos.
